About Douglas A. Burdge

Douglas W. Burdge, AIA, is recognized as a signature architect of Malibu, with his firm having designed and built over 300 custom residences in the region. Equally adept at Mediterranean estates, Modern homes, and his trademarked “Rustern” style—a blend of rustic and modern design—Burdge creates breathtaking oceanfront retreats with floor-to-ceiling glass doors framing endless sea and sky vistas.

 

Beyond residences, his award-winning work includes boutique hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, and private clubs, featured in Architectural Digest, The Wall Street Journal, Veranda, Robb Report, and Luxe. He has received multiple PCBC Golden Nugget “Home of the Year” awards, and his Sun Valley residential projects consistently appear on Mountain Living’s Top Mountain Architects & Interior Designers list.

 

A graduate of the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Architecture, Burdge is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art. He splits his time between Malibu and Idaho with his wife, Laura, and their twin sons. He also co-owns Buhaus Built, a luxury tiny house manufacturer, and is the creator of the Sunset BUD Living Home.
